Teaching Individuals How to Be The Trainer

Simple but Firm Methods

Hear what Judy's students have to say of this method!

Here is what I would like to say about Judy's training techniques:

Correct aggressive behavior

I have had a very sweet but dominant mare for two years that I could barely handle since she was very pushy. One day Judy came to me and immediately nailed the problem. She told me to take out the chain I used to lead my mare and to change my body posture. It was very impressive!!! I have not had any problem leading my mare since then. Furthermore, Judy provides such a sense of confidence that when I started riding my mare, I felt very self-assured even though I have not ridden for the last two years and my mare was very green. In fact, one day my mare bolted and with Judy's technique I was able to control her appropriately. Judy also taught me how to handle my mare's baby. Because of her training, my filly is now a very well behaved youngster. In fact, recently the vet came to evaluate her, performing a 1 1/2 hour exam. My vet told me she decided to perform this very detailed examination because my filly had excellent manners. Furthermore, my vet said she will never consider doing that type of examination in another yearling because it could be unsafe. It is very obvious that Judy loves and understands horses and the relationship of people with horses. All her training is done with positive reinforcement, so horses and the their owners, like me, adore her. Judy is the most impressive trainer I know!!!!      Cecilia

From: Jake Loftis and his sister Amber

Judy Duncan told me how to train my own two year old horse when I was 11 years old. Judy also taught my younger sister who was 9 years old. We worked with Judy for 3 years. My first horse was Lightening and I broke him  just to trail ride with my family. Then, when Lightening was 4 years old I spent less than a month working on my second and third level 4H test. In that time I taught Lightening to back in a circle both ways, to turn on the forehand and haunches, to do a simple change of leads and to collect. that year, I won purples ribbons and trophies in speed, pleasure and trail.

From: Ann Loftis

I would not have let my children break horses if they hadn't had the safe methods that Judy Duncan uses. Since Judy left, the children have continued to train all of our horses -  about ten horses so far. They also work with problems that the new horses we purchase come with.

Correct uncooperative behavior

Bud Adams ~ Adams' Arabians speaking of Judy's ranch management abilities:

Build a bond of trust  and willingness

I have owned and operated Adam's Arabians, and as such I have been a horse breeder for 48 years. Judy was in my employ from the Fall of 1979 to October, 1984. She was an excellent employee and a hard worker for the ranch. I believe that she will be an asset to any ranch management program.

Judy spent several years working with our more expensive horses. In addition, she was able to groom and care for our meritorious stallions, Top Contender and Bask Flame. She has the ability to participate in a full service breeding program and care for sick and injured animals.

Judy has maintained a good relationship with me and I believe her to be good addition to any program related to the horse industry.

From Stan Steyskal

Back in the 1980's I made a deal to start 30 head of thoroughbred colts for the two-year-old races. They were previously un-handled. In spite of this, all 30 head were ready for the track in 60 days with no injuries to the horses or ourselves. Judy and I used an old European method followed by an unusual type of tying off that is used with a positive reward system built into it creating such a positive response from the colts.

Judy has been working with students and their horses for over 25 year.  Each of her students have gained valuable key information and elements to better communicate and bond with their horse.

Over the years, Judy has built a long list of success stories with her students and their horses.

Many of Judy's student have gone on to compete very successfully. Without Judy ever riding the student's horse!

Instructing student how to be the trainer every time they handle their horse!
